Communities and Residents Announce Strong Local Team for Maungakiekie-Tāmaki

Communities and Residents (C&R) is proud to announce its full team of experienced, passionate candidates standing for the Maungakiekie-Tāmaki Local Board in the 2025 Auckland Local Elections. 

For Maungakiekie subdivision: 

Debbie Burrows – Now serving her third term on the Local Board, Debbie is a proven leader with a strong focus on safer streets, smarter spending, and infrastructure that matches community growth. Her deep governance experience ensures sound leadership that protects Maungakiekie’s unique identity. 

Tony Woodcock – A long-time business owner and current local board member, Tony brings entrepreneurial insight and practical problem-solving to the table. He is committed to preserving Onehunga’s heritage while guiding its future. 

Don Allan – A well-known face in the community, Don has served three terms on the board and currently works as a Community Constable. He brings unmatched dedication to public safety, local accountability, and reducing red tape.

For Tāmaki subdivision: 

Tabetha Elliott – A Mt Wellington resident, Justice of the Peace, educator, and former General Manager, Tabetha brings strong governance and business experience. She is a champion for community voices and practical, people-first leadership. 

Craig MacKenzie – A dedicated local with deep ties to disability and employment advocacy, Craig offers energy, vision, and a passion for greenspaces, accessibility, and smarter Council spending. 

Shani Hatitio – A long-time Maungakiekie-Tamaki resident and active school board leader, Shani has revived local civic groups and stands for strong, grassroots representation that puts locals first. 

Troy Elliott – With experience as a CEO and in the youth mental health sector, Troy brings a balanced understanding of business and wellbeing. He is President of the Mt Wellington Licensing Trust and a former local board member.
