Auckland; A powerful combination of grassroots leadership, deep community ties, and experienced governance is stepping forward to serve Auckland. Mark Pervan, Tabetha Elliott, Malcolm Turner and former Councillor and former MP Christine Fletcher QSO have officially announced their candidacies for Auckland Council, standing to represent local voices and deliver the practical, future-focused leadership the city needs.
Together, this team brings a bold vision for restoring trust in local government, tackling core issues like infrastructure, transport, and safety, and ensuring ratepayer value through efficient, people-first decision-making. Communities and Residents believe in delivering better services for the people of Auckland - Rates Roads and Rubbish.
Christine Fletcher says “This term, I oversaw the establishment of the Future Fund, securing Auckland’s long-term financial resilience. I’m deeply concerned that the Council has not pushed hard enough in negotiations with Central Government—especially around PC78, the RMA and protection of Auckland’s built character. I also believe the continuing rising costs of running Council places an unsustainable burden on ratepayers.”
Mark Pervan, Christine Fletcher’s running mate in Albert-Eden-Puketāpapa and first time Council Candidate says “I am deeply honored to announce my candidacy for the Albert-Eden-Puketāpapa Ward Councillor position in the 2025 Auckland Council election, representing Communities and Residents (C&R). I extend my heartfelt thanks to the C&R Executive for their trust and support in endorsing me as a candidate. Their commitment to better services and lower rates resonates strongly with the needs of our vibrant and diverse communities.
I am equally grateful to the residents of Albert-Eden-Puketāpapa who have encouraged me to step forward. Your voices, stories, and passion for our ward inspire me to serve and represent you. This ward, from the bustling streets of Mt Eden to the growing communities of Waterview and Waikōwhai, is a dynamic part of Auckland’s future, and I am committed to ensuring it remains a place where all residents can thrive.
I look forward to an engaging and positive campaign, listening to your concerns, and working together to address key issues like infrastructure, public transport, environmental action, and community building. With your support, I aim to bring fresh energy, practical solutions, and a strong voice to Auckland Council.
Let’s build a brighter future for Albert-Eden-Puketāpapa together.”
Tabetha Elliott, also a first time Council Candidate for Mangukiekie-Tamaki Ward says “Im standing because I care deeply about our local communities, especially our young people and I want to see real investment in the places and services that matter most, Our parks, playgrounds, and essential infrastructure have been neglected for too long. It’s time for Council to focus on the basics; all the things that directly impact people’s daily lives.
That means protecting weekly rubbish collection, properly maintaining our roads, keeping rates fair, and ensuring every ratepayer dollar is spent responsibly and transparently.
At the end of the day, it's about getting the fundamentals right: roads, rates, and rubbish must come first.”
Malcolm Turner running in Manukau says “After living in the Manukau Ward for near 30 years I feel things need to change. As a teen attending local high schools, the issues youths face today are essentially the same if not worse added with the covert world of social media. Also many streets are dirty and our home would look fantastic if we would pick up more rubbish rather than leaving it on the ground. Another thing I’d like to address is the fear of being looked at the wrong way. We all have different backgrounds but we all have the same values. Don’t let your eyes misinterpret people’s desires and needs. Let’s do this Manukau!”
Pervan, Elliott, Turner and Fletcher are standing to bring accountable, common-sense leadership back to the city.
The C&R brand focuses on keeping rates low, fixing Auckland’s failing roads, and restoring weekly rubbish collection, the core services that matter most to ratepayers. United by a commitment to practical solutions and community-first thinking, the team pledges to cut bureaucracy, prioritise local infrastructure, and make Council services work again for everyday Aucklanders.
With a blend of experience, fresh energy, and deep local roots, the team is ready to deliver the basics better and restore confidence in Auckland Council.
